Project Goal: Increase Social Emotional Learning and Violence Prevention 

Run workshops for students tailored to meet the needs of students developmentally. Each workshop will be 45 minutes in length facilitated by registered drama therapist, Lillian Ribeiro, MA, RDT. 

Students will learn strategies to resolve conflicts using theatre games, role play, and art, as well as practice coping skills to increase social-emotional learning. Students will be provided with psychoeducational materials and resources for support at the end of the workshop with hotlines and school counselor information during school hours. 

Curriculums Available:

    • Session Length: 45 Minutes Workshop

    • Target Audience: Pre-K to 1st Grade (25/30 students max each workshop)

    • Fee includes materials and resources.

    Registered drama therapist, Lillian Ribeiro, will run a 45-minute hands-on workshop incorporating musical instruments, theatre games and exercises to explore social emotional learning with pre-k, K and 1st grade students. Facilitator will support students in naming and identifying a range of feelings using warm-up games, psychoeducational book Lots of Feelings by Shelley Rotner then transition to playing Feeling Charades game where students role-play scenarios to express thoughts, feelings and behaviors. By end of the session, students will identify ways in which to cope with emotions and how to express them with peers and safe adults. Book also available in Spanish.

    • Session Length: 45 Minute Workshop

    • Target Audience: 2nd to 3rd grade (25/30 students max each workshop)

    • Fee includes materials and resources. Breakdown of workshop fee is approximately $15 per student.

    Registered drama therapist, Lillian Ribeiro, will run 45-minute workshop with 2nd and 3rd grade students. Facilitator will engage students in theatre games as warm-up then transition to psychoeducational book Listening to My Body by Gabi Garcia where students will learn the connection between sensations and feelings so they can get better at figuring out what they need. Students will be guided through exercises to practice getting to know their bodies and identify ways to cope with their feelings to build their emotional tool-box. Learning to identify the physical sensations that accompany emotions is the foundation for self- regulation. At the end of session, facilitator will have students identify feelings in their body and practice letting go of emotions. Book also available in Spanish.

    • Session Length: 45 Minute Workshop

    • Target Audience: 4th to 6th grade (25/30 students max each workshop)

    • Fee includes materials and resources.

    Registered drama therapist, Lillian Ribeiro, will run 45-minute powerpoint workshops with video clips and role-play exercises to explore social emotional learning with 4th, 5th and 6th grade students. Facilitator will devise role plays addressing problem areas school counselors identify; including but not limited to inappropriate behaviors, managing emotions, learning coping skills, as well as awareness on violence prevention in the schools. Students will be provided with powerpoint facilitation with psychoeducational material incorporating exercises exploring Feelings Temperature, The Emotion Iceberg, Thoughts- Behaviors-Actions Pyramid and body awareness art activity during workshop to practice ways to cope.

    • Target Audience: Educators

    • Session Length: 90 Minute Workshop. Will be provided to teachers to coincide with workshop learning of students to support their learning.
