WHAT IS DRAMA WITH A TWIST?

A drama therapy program designed with the intentional use of theater practices to achieve therapeutic goals. Participants explore trauma-informed curriculums designed to create therapeutic and safe learning environments for social-emotional development. Drama with a Twist is an embodied, active, and experiential practice. Participants get to role-play life to build resilience and learn while making meaningful connections in their personal lives. You do not have to be “good” at acting to benefit from drama therapy.

  • Drama Therapy Sessions

    Drama Therapy Sessions are unique therapeutic experiences that blend the art of drama, psychology, and healing practices grounded in therapeutic goals. These sessions are designed to provide a creative and interactive environment where participants can explore their emotions, behaviors, and thoughts through various drama techniques.

  • Violence Prevention Wokshops

    Violence Prevention Workshops are educational and interactive sessions designed to raise awareness, educate participants, and provide tools and strategies to prevent and address various forms of violence. These workshops can be tailored to different audiences, including schools, communities, workplaces, and specific groups at risk.

  • Theatre Education

    Drama Educational Programs embody the art of theatre with therapeutic goals to engage individuals using drama as a medium for healing, building coping skills, self-exploration, and personal growth. Through active and experiential role-play participants build resilience and learn while making meaningful connections in their personal lives. You do not have to be “good” at acting to benefit.

  • Intergenerational Arts Program

    Students and adult seniors will explore theatre, art, poetry, film, and music together. A culmination session invites participants, students, school administration, and participating artists to celebrate works created during the program.

  • Trauma-Informed Trainings

    Trauma-informed Training is educational sessions grounded in theatre practices designed to equip professionals and individuals with the knowledge and skills to understand, recognize, and respond to the effects of trauma. These trainings emphasize the widespread impact of trauma, the potential paths for recovery, and the principles of a trauma-informed approach.

  • The GALLERY

    The Gallery functions as multi-disciplinary hub in conjunction with local partnering organizations as collaborators. We work with guest curators to conceive performances, film projects, art and music shows and installations uniquely suited for a site-specific space. We work with our community partners to imagine how to creatively target their audiences developing original ideas inspired by works of art, music, film, dance, and performance.
